SET DESIGNER
As a child growing up in Niagara Falls Zac Mitchell developed a passion and curiosity for flea markets, thrift stores and stage sets. He started collecting, curating and decorating long before he knew he could make a living with these skills.
He moved to NYC in 1995 and was soon producing photo shoots for photographer Steven Klein in collaboration with Italian Vogue. While on set, Zac quickly learned that he preferred working on the creative side. With his strong production background, keen eye, wild imagination and wry sense of humor, Zac effortlessly transitioned into set design and prop styling.
For more than 12 years, Zac has conceptualized, art directed and interpreted the vision of some of the industry’s most well-respected creative teams and brands.
Some of the photographers Zac has collaborated with include William Abranowicz, Patrick Demarchelier, Nathaniel Goldberg, Pamela Hansen, Peter Lindburgh, Tom Munro, Peggy Sirota, Michael Thompson and Ellen Von Unwerth.
His advertising clients include American Express, Barney's, Brooks Brothers, Children’s Place, DKNY, Dyson, Estée Lauder, Gap, H&M, IBM, J Crew, Nationwide, Nautica, Target, Tommy Hilfiger, T Mobile and Wrangler.
Zac’s editorial clients include Details, GQ, LIFE, Numero, O Magazine, RollingStone, T Magazine, Teen Vogue, Wallpaper and W.
