Kunio Kohzaki

Kunio Kohzaki

HAIR STYLIST AND HEAD PIECE ARTIST

Kunio was raised in Japan in the family of an architect. A deep rooted influence of structure and form is evident in all his work. While initially planning to be an architect himself, it became clear early in his education that hair and head pieces were his passion and the best expression of his craft.

Inspired by his travels across the world, Kuni is strongly influenced by native people, cultures, and dress. He began his career in Japan and Korea training under Tetsu and collaborating with brands like Christian Dada and photographers like Nobuyoshi Araki. He then moved to London where his career continued to take shape. His work has been published in Vogue, Elle, L'Officiel, Dazed & Confused, Numero, W and i-D.

As a hair stylist Kunio’s love of hair in all forms is clear in the remarkable range of skill and versatility he’s developed. As a head piece designer and true artist, Kunio masterfully creates pieces sourced from unexpected and imaginative materials.

Looking for a new challenge and more creative opportunities, Kunio moved to New York City in 2012 where he currently resides.
